Family Worship Guide
Memory Verses: 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
Day 1: Read Luke 9:23-27 & discuss: What was it like being one of Jesus’ disciples? What costs were associated with following him? What benefits did they receive? Why must those who would be Jesus’ followers know what it means to “follow him”? Also, what’s the downside of not fully appreciating what it means to “follow him”?
Day 2: Read Luke 9:23-27 & discuss: Along with sharing the good news about Jesus what else must we be ready to explain? How do we explain what it means to be a disciple? What are some possible responses from the one who starts following Jesus but encounters hardships that they were not prepared for? Is every person who has an ungodly response to trials a false convert? Why? Why not?
Day 3: Read Luke 9:23-27 & discuss: What does denying yourself mean? What does it not mean? What are some biblically appropriate ways to deny yourself? Which one or two do you most desire to grow in? Who will you share this desire with, asking them to pray for you and check in on you?
