Family Worship Guide

Memory Verses: Isaiah 46:3-4

Day 1: Read Luke 10:25-37 and discuss: Why did the lawyer ask, “Who is my neighbor?” Why was this an oft-debated question? Why did the answer to this question matter - what would it affect? Who is - obviously - your neighbor? Make a list. Now review the list and prayerfully consider who you have left off of the list - whether by oversight or neglect. Pray for opportunities to show mercy to them - especially those who don’t come quickly to your mind when you think about your “neighbors”.

Day 2: Read Luke 10:25-37 and discuss: Is this a parable or a story? What’s the difference? What’s the practical impact of either answer? What is the difference between the “letter of the law” vs. “the spirit of the law”? What does God desire more? How can you know you are following “the spirit of the law?” What are some safeguards you should have in place?

Day 32: Read Luke 10:25-37 and discuss: What emotion does the text say the Samaritan had when he looked upon the man who needed help? Examine yourself. Who - in your circle of influence (family, friends,  fellow church members, neighbors, co-workers, people you see frequently while out-and-about on your errands, etc.) - receives compassion from you? Who stops you in your tracks because of their plight? Is compassion toward them a “fruit” of your “religion”?

Pray for those who lead, feed, and care for the flock, and their families (Col. 4:3, 2 Thess. 3:1): Gary Sprague & John LaPierre

Pray for these church members / families: (1 Tim. 2:1, Eph. 6:18, Col. 1:9): Randy & Melanie Hanson, Rex & Cindy Hapala, Joan Harshberger, Jeff & Tamy Hicks, Cary & Vennessia Johnson
