Family Worship Guide

Memory Verses: Phil. 3:10-11

Day 1: Read Romans 8:12-18 & discuss: Why is it important for us to know our “status” as a child of God (if we profess to be Christians)? What practical effects should that have in our everyday lives?

Day 2: Read Romans 8:12-18 & Eph. 3:6, Heb. 11:8-9, 1 Pet. 3:7 and discuss: What does it mean to be an “heir” with Christ? What does it not mean? When we feel unworthy, what and who should we think about instead? Consider a time (as a Christian, already) when you did you feel unworthy, unloved, alone, and/or unaccepted. How could these truths about being “joint heirs” with Christ have changed your thinking? Do you know someone who feels these sorts of things? How would you counsel them about their true “status”?

Day 3: Read Romans 8:12-18 & Romans 8:23, 32 and discuss: Like Christ, what specifically do we inherit? What must we also be willing to endure (as Christ also endured)? (Look at Rom. 8:17, again) How must we make sense of those who profess to be Christians but eventually fall away? What passages were provided as explanations, in the sermon? How does Rom. 8:35-39 comfort us, who claim to be Christians, yet experience trials and temptations still?
