IEM2IEM is a multifaceted ministry with the goal of winning the lost, building and equipping the saints, and then sending them forth to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord (Mat 28:19, 20). IEM was founded in 1966 by Dr. G.V. Mathai, being burdened that millions of Indians were headed toward a Christless eternity.

Following the strategy of the Apostle Paul, “Being made all things to all men, that I by all means he might save some” (I Cor. 9:22), IEM is reaching the lost by meeting the spiritual, physical and material needs of the people. Large evangelical crusades, tract distribution, Christian Reading Rooms and Bible Correspondence Courses have all proven very effective in leading the spiritually hungry to Christ.

IEM1Since foreign missionaries are not allowed to preach the gospel in India, an important part of IEM’s ministry is training Indian nationals in the word of
God that they may take a “fully equipped” role in winning souls for Christ and establishing churches. The IEM Bible College exists to meet this challenge. Read more about it on our Bible College page.

God willing, IEM intends to continue it’s work in India by establishing a strong Christian witness, and planting churches in this predominantly anti-Christian group nation. By winning the lost, building and equipping the saints, and sending them forth we will be obedient to our Lord, for the furtherance of His kingdom.

Andy and Karina (Keeky) Smith, and their two boys David and Johnathan, helped found Shepherd’s Heart International Ministry in the Buvuma Islands of Uganda for the purpose of empowering Ugandan Christian leaders to minister most effectively among the remote island villages. The ministry is continuing strong to this day. To learn more about it, and/or support the African ministry of SHIM, go to Smith-SHIM or Robert Wafula.

Currently, Andy and Keeky are serving in a missionary capacity as the Directors of Village Ministry for Alaska Village Missions, based in Homer, Alaska. Andy also teaches Bible and Missions at Alaska Bible Institute, where Karina serves as the Campus Nurse and homeschools David and Johnathan. I work in North Thailand with Remember Nhu. Remember Nhu’s goal is to end child sex slavery through prevention. We currently have almost 200 children in our homes in North Thailand. I am the gifts, guidance, and goals coordinator. It is our goal that our children are able to support themselves and thrive in their adult lives whether that be through a higher education through a university or learning a trade at a vocational or technological school. It is my responsibility to work along side our children to develop a plan for their future by observing their individual gifts and talents and finding what track works best for each of them. My work is primarily with high school and university students (although I sneak in visits to the younger children). I meet with some of our university students weekly for bible study and worship as well. Because our organization is young, we have only begun having consistent groups of high school graduates. Thus, both my role and the program are new and developing.
